What can a simple question do?
A simple, but effective question can ignite motivation, spark creativity, and it can move you to action. My three favorite questions I personally ask myself are:
What do I want?
Why do I want it (the 5 why’s)?
How do I get/do it? (Action)
On Day 1 we talked about the 5 Why’s. It allowed us to dig deep as to why we are doing what we do, or why we want a certain thing. I want to introduce a new exercise that I created (inspired by the 5 Why’s) called the 5 How’s.
Just like the 5 Why’s, you ask yourself 5 How questions to break something big down into the smallest actionable part. It creates action that you can start on today.
So answer this question - “How are you going to start and finish this challenge?” or “How are you going to get to your goals?” then ask yourself how 4 more times (or less) until you get to the smallest, most actionable step. Again, you can use this exercise with any big goal, not just this challenge.
